Check these out!

This happen on January 20th, 2010

Woke up at 5:15am today for a 6 mile run. I decided to go barefoot, my last barefoot run was Dec. 31st. The temperature was 32 degrees.  The roads in my area looked fine, until I started running more then realized some streets were covered in a sheet of ice, and wet as well.  My feet were feeling fine, so I continued on. I get home from the run come inside, feet look okay until I hit the shower. Then in a span of 30 seconds these massive blisters formed.  The good thing it wasn’t frost bite.  But looking back, because of the cold conditions,  the ice, and wetness, I was losing my form which caused me to push off more, instead of lifting the feet which resulted in friction burns.  It’s odd because I only got blisters on one foot.

I was back running within 7 days with no scarring or extra sensitive to those areas.

  1. I have noticed that when it is cold my feet get abraded more. I tense up (unless I think about it), and, like you said, push off more.

My reactions exactly. Happy Birthday to my boy Andrew who turns 11 today. There he is at 3 joining me at the finish of my first marathon. I was about 50 yards from the finish line, spotted him in the crowd and wave and out he shoots to join me to the finish line. Such an awesome memory I will never forget. This is great! The Cove. Barefoot running and gravel paths!? Call it a nice massage on the feet. I never tried or thought about deadlifts when younger. Now at the ripe age of 46 I discovered how awesome they are. With 3 weeks in I hit 190lbs for 5 reps on my last set. Thanks to my son for the recording.
