Snow/Ice Run

I went out for a 6 mile run at 5:15am this morning,  we got slammed  with about 16″ of snow yesterday, this was my first snow/ice run of the year.  The temp was 19 degrees, I wore my Vibram sprints without socks (I  have no room in my sprints to wear socks).   Five fingers are very slippery on ice and snow, the roads were 95% covered in both.   Running on this kind of surface is tricky, it’s a good test on your running form.

Running on dry snow is much better than hitting parts of the road that is wet and slushy, once I got my Vibrams wet it’s pretty much over in the comfort zone.  By mile 4 my toes were definitely freezing and some numbness was starting to settling in.   Overall it was a solid run, much better being outside than inside on a dreadmill.
