5.7 mile run, 7:40 pace/Thoughts of BQ’ing

I ran under a 8:00 minute pace for the first time in a while and it felt great.  After reading and following the Boston Marathon, I looked up what I needed to qualify.  3 hours, 20 minutes, which is a 7:38 pace. Wow!  Amazing how my outlook changes on things, at first I was like Boston is not a big deal, blah, blah…..    But how the tides have turned, to qualify and run Boston would be an amazing experience.  But to qualify would a huge challenge, who knows how many marathons it would take for me to qualify as well.  Something to put on the back burner for now.

So anyways I decided match my BQ time on this run, didn’t achieve the exact pace,  but felt good to run fast.  I have to remember to keep pushing myself as a runner.

My reactions exactly. Happy Birthday to my boy Andrew who turns 11 today.  There he is at 3 joining me at the finish of my first marathon.  I was about 50 yards from the finish line, spotted him in the crowd and wave and out he shoots to join me to the finish line. Such an awesome memory I will never forget. This is great! The Cove. Barefoot running and gravel paths!? Call it a nice massage on the feet. I never tried or thought about deadlifts when younger. Now at the ripe age of 46 I discovered how awesome they are.  With 3 weeks in I hit 190lbs for 5 reps on my last set. Thanks to my son for the recording.
