Graduating College

May has been an exciting month for me, I ran my first barefoot marathon, and tomorrow, May 15th, I will be graduating college with my bachelors degree in business management with a concentration of healthcare management.  Being out of school for about 16 years and going back was a bit frightening at the time. I have to thank my wife, Erika, for really pushing, and motivating me to do this.  For the past 3 1/2 years I have been attending evening classes as a full-time student.  Between working full-time, and family this was a challenge, and at times extremely frustrating, but now it’s over, and I feel very proud of what i achieved. (I do have to take one summer course, but that I can live with.)

As far as running, I feel fully recovered from the marathon, I had a little ache in my right knee after a run, but that is starting to go away.   As far a races go, next on the list is the Fairfield, CT half marathon on June 26th.  I love this course, this will be third time running it, and second time running it barefoot.

My reactions exactly. Happy Birthday to my boy Andrew who turns 11 today. There he is at 3 joining me at the finish of my first marathon. I was about 50 yards from the finish line, spotted him in the crowd and wave and out he shoots to join me to the finish line. Such an awesome memory I will never forget. This is great! The Cove. Barefoot running and gravel paths!? Call it a nice massage on the feet. I never tried or thought about deadlifts when younger. Now at the ripe age of 46 I discovered how awesome they are. With 3 weeks in I hit 190lbs for 5 reps on my last set. Thanks to my son for the recording.
