2011 NYC Barefoot Run.

This was a fun event.   I woke up at 5:00am to get ready and was out the door at 5:30am.   I have made the trip to NYC countless of times, but on this trip I got lost, real bad.   I won’t even go into details, but I will tell you I am horrible at directions, and it seems to get worse as i get older.  I might need to invest in a GPS system. I actually got really upset about it, so I wasn’t in the greatest of moods when i finally got to South Street, New York to catch tthe ferry.

One a positive note the ferry ride to Governors Island was really enjoyable.  I ran 11 miles, I was looking to do much more, but tweaked my foot last week. (I was jumping over lawn furniture and off tables barefoot messing around with my son in the back yard, and did something to my foot. I’m not in my 20’s anymore!).  So after 11 I gathered up my stuff,  had a few cold beers they were offering, Smutttynose, chilled out for a few and head back to catch the ferry.   I definitely will go back next year.

Ran the Fairfield CT half marathon this morning. Came in with a time off 1:50:12. This was my 8th consecutive year running this race, and barefoot. My training was super light. Maybe 12-15 miles per week with no speed training, or fancy workouts, all runs were slow. I started lifting weights again, and noticed a big difference with running. The weight training is what pulled me through. The best snack/protein bar out there. Definitely no BS.
@rxbar Great Father's Day hanging at the beach. Off to Andrew's 5th grade graduation. Next stop Middle School! Showing my daughter the ropes, but kids don't need any lessons running barefoot, we are born to do it properly.
#barefootrunning Nature at it's realist. Brooklyn, New York
Street Art. Friday evening at the beach. My little sweetie is growing up. We were stuck in traffic and I snapped a quick picture of her and it's crazy to notice the changes of your children at certain points.
