Another solid run – Signed up for a 5k

I ran almost 6 miles barefoot yesterday.  Beautiful day, got off work early and started the run at 1:00. 50 degrees and sunny.  I still have some soreness on top of the foot when I run, but feel really good being back out there with some significant runs.  I want to do a 10 miler this weekend, my mind say yes the foot says no.  That is fine I feel blessed just to be out there running again.

I signed up for a 5k as well, which is the next week.  I think the last time I ran a 5k  I was 11 years old.  I have no idea how to approach it, but the goal is to have fun with it.   A local pizza joint is sponsoring it so it will be pizza and beer for the post race events!

  1. I say, follow the foot. There is nothing more frustrating than injury. I have a 10k tomorrow. I hope I won’t become road kill (as in, dead on the road, as opposed to being passed). Enjoy your 5!

My reactions exactly. Happy Birthday to my boy Andrew who turns 11 today. There he is at 3 joining me at the finish of my first marathon. I was about 50 yards from the finish line, spotted him in the crowd and wave and out he shoots to join me to the finish line. Such an awesome memory I will never forget. This is great! The Cove. Barefoot running and gravel paths!? Call it a nice massage on the feet. I never tried or thought about deadlifts when younger. Now at the ripe age of 46 I discovered how awesome they are. With 3 weeks in I hit 190lbs for 5 reps on my last set. Thanks to my son for the recording.
