20K Road Race

I ran a 20k road race on Sunday 2/12/2012.  It was a good way to kick off my training for the 50K, and start running long again.   This 20k was the first time I ran in the double digits since September 2011, it felt good great as well.   I wasn’t out there for time or to race it all, just out for a nice long run, I came in at 1:48:23.  It was 18 degrees at the start and windy,  I wore my Runamoc Dash Lites without socks and had no issues.  During the waiting period for the start my toes were cold, but after 10 minutes of running they warmed up and felt great throughout the run.   These shoes are great, but nothing beats running barefoot.  Overall it was a good week of running, I got in 30 miles for the week.

On a side note I read a post today by Barefoot Rick on his facebook page that he ran 6 miles in 3 inches of snow, barefoot.  His tolerance is amazing,  must be a great feeling to never have to rely on footwear to run.   He inspires me when it comes to winter barefoot running.

My reactions exactly. Happy Birthday to my boy Andrew who turns 11 today.  There he is at 3 joining me at the finish of my first marathon.  I was about 50 yards from the finish line, spotted him in the crowd and wave and out he shoots to join me to the finish line. Such an awesome memory I will never forget. This is great! The Cove. Barefoot running and gravel paths!? Call it a nice massage on the feet. I never tried or thought about deadlifts when younger. Now at the ripe age of 46 I discovered how awesome they are.  With 3 weeks in I hit 190lbs for 5 reps on my last set. Thanks to my son for the recording.
