New Job, adjusting and lack of running.

I got a new job, my current position is a warehouse associate working for a company called Medisave.   I basically went from 10 years of a corporate atmosphere to manufacturing, from a cushy office atmosphere to a warehouse, from sitting to standing on my feet 8 hours a day.   Seems like I am complaining but I’m not, just trying to describe how physically my body had to adjust to this new atmosphere.  My first week my thighs, and lower back were killing me, but as the days went by the more I started to adjust.  Two weeks in, I am getting into my groove.  It’s a fast paced work environment, good old fashion blue-collar work, which I enjoy.   I work on a concrete floor, and for footwear I have been switching between a pair of Vans, to Softstar Runamoc Dash Lites.    So anyone out there who works on their feet all day,I would to hear what you wear!  I am looking to get something with a bit more padding, but still want a zero heel drop.

So on to the running, or lack of.  I honestly wouldn’t care about not running as much, if I didn’t have a 50k on May 27th.  I think I officially fall into the category of “running an ultra with minimal training”.  I still get a long run in on the weekends, the weekly miles have dwindled.  Oh well, day by day…  My new motto as of lately.

  1. You have a nice base and will be fine come race day. Keep getting in those long runs and just go into the race looking to enjoy yourself. Congrats on the new job and good luck finding some shoes.

Ran the Fairfield CT half marathon this morning. Came in with a time off 1:50:12. This was my 8th consecutive year running this race, and barefoot. My training was super light. Maybe 12-15 miles per week with no speed training, or fancy workouts, all runs were slow. I started lifting weights again, and noticed a big difference with running. The weight training is what pulled me through. The best snack/protein bar out there. Definitely no BS.
@rxbar Great Father's Day hanging at the beach. Off to Andrew's 5th grade graduation. Next stop Middle School! Showing my daughter the ropes, but kids don't need any lessons running barefoot, we are born to do it properly.

Street Art. Friday evening at the beach. My little sweetie is growing up. We were stuck in traffic and I snapped a quick picture of her and it's crazy to notice the changes of your children at certain points.
