19 barefoot miler

I was happy to get a run somewhat near the 20 mile mark this weekend, came close, I am very happy with 19.   Got in 37 barefoot miles this week, happy about that as well.  Next weekend I will do a cut back long run somewhere between the 13-15 range, then the following weekend try to get in a 24 miler, or  20 will do,  two week taper, then ready to run this race.   I just want to run it now!  I wish I can say I’m burnt out from training, but my training has not been your typical all ultra training, but it’s cool.   I’ll tell you one thing, I wouldn’t just wake up one morning and run 19 miles for the hell of it, if I am not training for something.  To be honest it just takes so some much time away from the day, especially time with my kids, they are still young and want me around, for now….

My feet,the body felt really good this morning, felt super tired in the beginning but broke out of that funk.  Honestly I could have easily ran another 5 miles, but had to, and wanted to get home.   I had plans with my son, Andrew, to go to this carnival together, which we did and was a lot of fun.

My reactions exactly. Happy Birthday to my boy Andrew who turns 11 today.  There he is at 3 joining me at the finish of my first marathon.  I was about 50 yards from the finish line, spotted him in the crowd and wave and out he shoots to join me to the finish line. Such an awesome memory I will never forget. This is great! The Cove. Barefoot running and gravel paths!? Call it a nice massage on the feet. I never tried or thought about deadlifts when younger. Now at the ripe age of 46 I discovered how awesome they are.  With 3 weeks in I hit 190lbs for 5 reps on my last set. Thanks to my son for the recording.
