It’s April 1st! It was a long, cold, snowy winter and happy to see it’s way out. Considering how brutal the winter was I did manage to still run barefoot. I didn’t do a lot of running, I was just maintaining and getting my exercise in.
Here’s the break down:
Total winter barefoot miles = 220
100 mile – (41-32F)
63 miles – (32-23F)
46 miles – (23 to 14 F)
11 miles – ( 14-5F)
My coldest run was 3 miles in 7F.
As of now my wife and I are expecting our third child, due date is April 21st so between now and then anything can happen. I’m excited, nervous, and anxious all at once. Coming from someone who thought would never be married, have kids, or even alive if I continued a destructive path I was on in my early thirties, it’s quite a turn around. I’m 43 years old right now, I have two boys 7 and 3, and a baby on the way (no clue what we are having, we didn’t find out this time around). I started a bit late in life, but this is the path that God has put in front of me, praise the Lord for his guidance.
5 years ago I ran my first marathon, loved the experience and decided to run a marathon every year at a different location. This year I’m passing on the marathon, the main reason is my family and adjusting to the baby. Another reason is I just don’t want to have the stress of training for one, sure I can run a marathon without training, but why do that and be disappointed with my performance. I’m running a half marathon in June, and maybe a few others down the road, but that’s about it. Looking forward to enjoying the summer.
